A video of the warden entering the hostel room and allegedly committing theft is going viral on social media. The viral video is from ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad. In this, the college warden is seen entering the student’s room and searching the cupboard and other things. In this video, the warden is seen taking out some money from the student’s wallet and keeping it in his pocket. According to the users sharing the video, this incident took place when the students had gone to appear for the semester exams. Meanwhile, hostel warden Sunil Kumar, whom the students call ‘Mario’, entered the room. In the video, he is seen opening cupboards, bags and drawers. After some time, he checks the student’s wallet from the cupboard and takes out cash from it and keeps it in his pocket. In the video, he is also seen checking the lighter from the students’ room. Online students are calling ‘thief warden’. People are sharing this video online and calling the warden a thief. After the video went viral on social media, many students alleged that there had been complaints of missing items in the hostel earlier also. But no serious action was ever taken. Some students claimed that incidents of theft in rooms had happened earlier also during examinations. Some users say – ‘The video is being shared with misleading claims’. However, many users are calling it misleading in the comments. One user wrote, ‘This used to happen even during our hostel days. This was usually done to find illegal things banned in hostels. He (the warden) is not stealing anything. It’s called ‘silent red’. Another user wrote, ‘This seems a bit misleading. He’s just picking up the lighter. It is more likely that he may have recorded the video himself, so that he can show that he is not making false allegations against the people living in the hostel. There is no statement from the college administration. At present, no official statement has come from the college administration. However, people on social media are demanding action against the warden.
