This is the country’s first partnership with Quick Commerce platform for quick delivery of gas cylinders.
Swiggy’s quick commerce platform Instamart has announced a partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited to start delivery of LPG cylinders. Under this, now customers will be able to order on-demand LPG gas cylinders directly through Instamart app.
On Wednesday, July 15, both the companies informed about the launch of this service. This is the country’s first partnership with Quick Commerce platform for quick delivery of gas cylinders. In the initial phase, this service will be rolled out in Bengaluru, Karnataka. According to media reports, the cylinder can be delivered in 30 to 45 minutes.
New ‘HP Navya’ of 10 kg and 5 kg cylinder will be available.
Through this partnership, customers will be able to order two types of HPCL cylinders on Instamart app. This includes the company’s recently launched ‘HP Navya’ 10 kg composite LPG cylinder.
Apart from this, customers will also be able to book HPCL’s traditional 5 kg iron LPG cylinder through the app.
Will be able to book even without any old connection
Companies have informed that customers will not need any type of domestic LPG gas connection to buy these gas cylinders through Instamart.
This will be extremely convenient for those who have shifted to a new city or who need a gas cylinder immediately.
Know what is the order and refill process
- First order: If a customer books a cylinder from the app for the first time, it will be considered as purchase of a new cylinder. On first time purchase, identity verification of the customer will be done and necessary documents related to delivery proof will be taken.
- Refill Order: Whenever the customer books the cylinder again after the first time, he will have to hand over his old empty HPCL cylinder to the delivery person at the time of delivery.

Now know important things related to this in question and answer…
Will the cylinder be from Instamart or HP?
The cylinder will be completely from HP. Swiggy Instamart here is just acting as a tech-enabled delivery platform. Customers will book orders through Instamart app, but gas and cylinders will be from HPCL only.
What will be the price of the cylinder and what will be the refilling charges?
The exact prices and delivery/refilling charges have not yet been disclosed in the companies’ announcement. Since it comes under commercial and domestic gas regulations, the base price of the new 10 kg ‘HP Navya’ composite cylinder and 5 kg metal cylinder will be decided as per the government rates and standard norms of HPCL.
Additionally, some additional convenience or delivery charges may be added for quick delivery on the Instamart app, details of which will be live at the time of booking on the app.
Why did HP choose Instamart for tie-up?
Swiggy Instamart is spread across more than 131 cities in India and has a very strong digital and delivery network. According to Amit Garg, Marketing Director, HPCL, in the changing times, the needs of customers are changing and they want everything instantly.
Through Instamart, HPCL has got a new tech-enabled channel, allowing them to rapidly reach out to the youth, people shifting to a new city and digital friendly customers.

Who will be responsible for safety during delivery?
The entire responsibility of security will be of HPCL’s authorized distributor network and their professional delivery staff. Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said that despite booking through Quick Commerce app, there will be no compromise on security. Customer orders will be fulfilled directly from HPCL’s authorized distributor network.
The cylinders will not be delivered by the usual Swiggy riders, but by HPCL’s trained and professional distributor staff, who will be responsible for adhering to all applicable safety and regulatory rules.
Can other gas companies also follow this?
Yes, you can definitely do it. Quick commerce market is growing very fast in India. This partnership between HPCL and Instamart is the first pilot project of its kind in the country. A
If this model is successful in Bengaluru, then considering the competition, other big government and private companies like Indane and Bharat Gas can also make such partnerships with platforms like Blinkit or Zepto.
Digital platform will increase customer reach
HPCL Marketing Director Amit Garg said that the digital platform will increase customer reach. Instamart has expanded its services beyond grocery to become a part of customers’ everyday lives. Together, we are extending that same convenience to another essential home service. We have brought LPG delivery to Instamart without compromising on customer safety and trust.
Customer needs are changing and we are constantly coming up with new solutions for them. Our aim is to make access to LPG gas easy for the people of the country through a digitally enabled platform. At the same time maintaining the same standards of safety, trust and reliability that have always been associated with HP Gas.
When will the service be available outside Bengaluru, not decided yet
Currently, Swiggy Instamart delivers more than 50,000 SKUs of products in more than 131 cities in India. The entry into the LPG delivery segment is part of the company’s entry into high-trust categories.
For HPCL, this partnership is like expanding its distribution network into a new tech-enabled channel. Both the companies have not yet shared the timeline for expanding this service outside Bengaluru.
What is ‘composite’ cylinder?
Traditional gas cylinders are made of heavy iron or steel, which weigh a lot even when empty. In contrast, composite cylinders are made of three layers of fiberglass material.
These are rust proof and there is no risk of gas leaking due to rust. Apart from being light, their look is also modern, making them better for urban homes and modern kitchens.
