1. PM Narendra Modi becomes the leader who has completed the longest tenure
- On June 10, PM Narendra Modi became the country’s longest elected PM.
- PM Modi broke the record of the country’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
- PM Narendra Modi has completed 4,399 consecutive days in office and broke Jawaharlal Nehru’s record of 4,398 days.
- Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the first time on 26 May 2014.
- Along with this, Indira Gandhi served as Prime Minister continuously from 24 January 1966 to 24 March 1977 and her tenure was 4,077 days.
- PM Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 and held the post until he assumed the post of Prime Minister in 2014.
Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the first time on 26 May 2014.
2. President Draupadi Murmu presented Shaurya Chakra at Rashtrapati Bhavan
- On June 8, President Draupadi Murmu awarded 7 Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras and 29 Shaurya Chakras to the soldiers and their families at the Defense Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were also present at the ceremony. These Shaurya Chakras posthumously include 2 Kirti Chakras, 3 Veer Chakras and 1 Shaurya Chakra.
- Group Captain Manish Arora of the Indian Air Force, who was involved in Operation Sindoor, has also been awarded the Vir Chakra. He has also received Shaurya Chakra earlier.
- Group Captain Manish, flying Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft, took part in air strikes on terrorist targets in Pakistan.
- Along with this, Lieutenant Colonel Nitish Bharti Shukla, who killed 3 terrorists on LoC, has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
- Major Aditya Pratap Singh, who showed bravery during the military operation in the border area of Arunachal Pradesh, was also awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
- Police officers Laxman Kewat and Rameshwar Prasad Deshmukh, who showed courage during the anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, also received this honour.
- Indian Navy Lieutenant Commander Dilna K. And Rupa A. Was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for completing the circumnavigation of the world by sea under the Navika Sagar Parikrama-II expedition.
- Martyr Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand of 4 Rashtriya Rifles was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
- President Draupadi Murmu presented this gallantry award to his wife and mother at the Defense Investiture Ceremony.
- Major Ashish Kumar of 7 Para (Special Forces) was awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
- He led the operation during an anti-terrorist operation in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir in November 2024.
- Inspector Laxman Kevat and Inspector Rameshwar Prasad Deshmukh of Chhattisgarh Police were awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
- Both the officers had led a major anti-Naxal operation on 16 April 2024.
- Amidst the Naxalite attack, he took charge in the encounter that lasted for more than three hours, rescued the injured soldiers and made the operation successful.
Mother of constable Janjal Praveen Prabhakar took the Kirti Chakra from the hands of President Draupadi Murmu.
3. Meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers started in Indore
- On June 9, the meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers started in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This summit will continue till June 13.
- Agriculture ministers of BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa participated in this meeting.
- Food security, agricultural innovation, climate change, agricultural trade and small farmers will be discussed in this summit.
- According to the Ministry of Agriculture, about 42% of the world’s agricultural land, 68% of agricultural holdings and 42% of food production are owned by BRICS countries.
- In this summit, new technology and innovation in the agriculture sector will be discussed. Sessions will be organized on how to make farming safe in the era of climate change.
- In this summit, emphasis will be laid on increasing the income of small farmers and connecting them to the global market.
- A joint declaration can also be presented on food security and nutrition, digital agriculture and increasing the use of smart technology in agriculture, agricultural innovation, AI, machine learning and robotics and agricultural investment.
This is the 16th meeting of BRICS, in which representatives of more than 20 countries are participating.
International 4. US court bans fee of $1 lakh for H-1B visa
- On June 8, the Federal Court in America canceled Trump’s policy of charging a fee of $ 1 lakh (about Rs 95 lakh) on H-1B visa.
- The Boston Court said that this is not a fee but a tax and to implement it, the approval of the Parliament and not the President is required.
- Trump had said in September 2025 that companies employing foreign workers on H-1B visas will have to pay an extra fee of $1 lakh for each visa.
- After this, the Attorney General of 20 states challenged it. Now the Trump government can appeal against the court’s decision.
- H-1B is a non-immigrant visa through which American companies can hire high-skilled professionals from foreign countries for a short period of time.
- Earlier, for applying for H-1B visa, companies had to pay a fee of around 2000 to 5000 dollars.
- This visa is most used by Indian IT and tech professionals.
- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had raised the issue of H-1B visa with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in May this year.
- Rubio admitted that there may be some problems and tensions during the transition to the new immigration system.
H-1B visa
- H-1B visa is a non-agreement visa.
- H-1B visa allows foreign professionals to be appointed to positions with special technical skills.
- H-1B visa is issued for people with professions like IT architects and health.
- America gives H-1B visas to 65,000 people every year.
- The time limit for H-1B visa is for 3 years.
- If needed, H-1B visa can be extended for up to 3 years.

5. Defense Ministry approves 250 MW Solar-BESS project
- On June 9, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh approved the first large-scale solar power project on army land in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.
- This project will be built in a solar power plant of 250 megawatt (MW) capacity.
- This battery will be developed with Solar Storage System (Battery Energy Storage System – BESS).
- According to the Defense Ministry, this is the first project of its kind, in which a large-scale solar energy production facility with BESS will be started on army land.
- According to the ministry, this project will be developed by NTPC as part of its initiative to make better use of vacant army land (defense land).
- This initiative will increase clean energy and sustainability. This will also reduce dependence on traditional energy sources.
- This project aims to further strengthen defense institutions and reduce dependence on conventional electricity.
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) stores additional solar energy and helps provide power at low voltage or at night.
- The Defense Ministry, Army Headquarters, and Directorate General of Defense Estates (DGDE) will work together to complete this project.
BESS system makes the energy supply more stable.
