The death of South African woman Sina Dhaladhala in office has sparked a debate on social media regarding corporate work culture. Seena Dhaladhala, who worked as a center agent at the Cart Track Company in Rosebank, was ill for a long time and died in the office washroom. The application was rejected every time. Family members told that he applied for leave twice but it was rejected every time. So much so that instead of immediately taking the woman to the hospital, her manager was discussing who would bear the expenses of the treatment. Employees accused the company of negligence. Employees working with Cena have accused the company of negligence regarding Cena’s illness. According to a person who worked with Cena, a day before his death, Cena was crying on his knees. She was saying that I was very ill. Even after that I have to come on Saturday also. That too when I have told that my health is very bad. The family called an ambulance from the private hospital. On the day Cena died, the team leader called him to the office at around 6.30 pm. When she came back she was crying. Cena’s aunt Nomusa said that her niece had applied for sick leave twice, which was rejected. She was physically and emotionally broken. Nomusa said that I had to call an ambulance from the private hospital myself. Cena’s family blames the company. Cena’s family alleges that the manager told them to wait for the ambulance, but they did not even have any reference number of the hospital. He just kept saying that the pulse was slow but did not take any timely action. On Cena’s request, the company told him that he was misusing the company’s policy. Labor advocates and social media users said Cena’s death was a living example of work pressure in a workplace. This is the same pressure that is given even when employees are ill. Cena’s death has also raised questions on the medical leave policies of the office.
