1. President Murmu reached North Macedonia
- July 21 President Draupadi Murmu reached Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, during the leg of her 3-nation visit.

- President Murmu met with North Macedonia’s PM Hristian Mickoski.
- President Murmu also met Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi and addressed the Parliament.
- During this visit, President Murmu also addressed the India-North Macedonia Business Forum.
- During this visit, there was talk on increasing cooperation in areas like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, IT.
- During this visit, President Murmu will also visit Mother Teresa Memorial and other historical places.
- Along with this, on the first day of this visit, President Murmu talked about the ‘3 Ts’ roadmap between India and Moldova to double the trade.
- The objective of this visit is to promote bilateral and strategic relations with Eastern European countries.

2. India becomes member of WTO’s fisheries agreement
- On July 20, India became an official member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Fisheries Subsidy Agreement.
- India has become the 123rd member country to accept this agreement.
- India approved this agreement in the 12th Ministerial Conference of WTO held in Geneva.
- After becoming a member of WTO, subsidies promoting illegal, unregulated and unregulated (IUU) fishing in India will be banned.
- This will promote the conservation of marine biodiversity and fishery resources after the agreement.
- Subsidies will not be given to vessels engaged in IUU fishing. Ban on subsidies for hunting over-exploited fish species.
- After this agreement, subsidies will not be given for fishing in unregulated marine areas.
- After this agreement, small and traditional fishermen in India will benefit.
- This agreement is a big step towards strengthening the marine ecosystem.
- The Fisheries Subsidy Agreement was adopted during the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference in June 2022.

Appointment 3. Indian-origin MP Kanishka becomes Britain’s first AI minister
- On July 20, Indian-origin MP Kanishk Narayan was appointed Britain’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Minister.
- For the first time, Britain has appointed a minister for AI. This appointment of Kanishka has been made after the cabinet expansion of the new British PM Andy Burnham.
- He was serving as AI and Online Safety Minister from September 2025.
- Kanishk was born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar and moved to Wales (Cardiff) with his family at the age of 12.
- Kanishka becomes the first minority MP of Wales in 2024. Before joining politics, he worked for the British government.
Kanishka is a member of the Labor Party.

4. Tourism Ministry approves new projects worth ₹5,757 crore
- On July 21, the Tourism Ministry approved new projects worth ₹5,757 crore.
- It includes 117 projects. The objective of these projects is to develop major tourist destinations.
- This includes promotion of heritage and religious tourism, expansion of eco-tourism and rural tourism.
- Through this scheme, better connectivity and modern tourist facilities will be developed.
- The government’s focus is particularly on North-East India and less developed tourism areas.

5. Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankhar passes away
- On July 20, Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankhar passed away. He was 60 years old.
- Anurag Dhankhar was a 1994 batch IPS officer.

- Anurag had led the Nirav Modi case and anti-Sikh riots case.
- Anurag also led the SIT formed to re-investigate the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
- Dhankar started his career as a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Tripura in 1995, after which he became the Director General of Police.
- In place of DGP Anurag, Additional DGP Srinivas Rao has been made acting DGP.

5. Controversial map on one rupee coin in Nepal
- On July 21, the Nepal government has rejected the proposal to remove the controversial national map from the one rupee coin.
- In this map, India’s Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura are shown as part of Nepal.
- However, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) had earlier proposed to replace the controversial map of Nepal printed on the one rupee coin with the image of the historic monastery of Mustang.
- After this controversy, the ministry directed Nepal Rastra Bank to include the national map of Nepal along with the Buddhist monastery in the design.
- Nepal Rastra Bank will prepare a new design on the instructions of the Cabinet. Both the national map and the Lo Ghekar Monastery will be included in the new coins.
- Earlier, during the monarchy period in Nepal, photographs of King Mahendra, King Birendra and King Gyanendra were printed on notes and coins.
- After the political changes of 2006, these have been replaced by Mount Everest, wildlife, national monuments and cultural symbols.

7. First dengue vaccine approved in India
- On July 20, dengue vaccine was approved for the first time in India.
- The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has allowed Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India’s vaccine QDENGA to be used in the market.
- According to the company, this vaccine can be administered to people between four and 60 years of age.
- Before getting the vaccine, there will be no need to check whether the person has ever been infected with dengue before or not.
- The approval received in India has been given on the basis of Takeda’s global clinical development program.
- Under this, a total of 19 clinical trials of Phase-I, Phase-II and Phase-III were conducted, in which more than 28 thousand people participated.
- To prevent dengue, two doses of QDENGA are given.
- Each dose is of 0.5 ml and is given by injection under the skin. A gap of three months is kept between the two doses.
- ‘Kyudenga’ (TAK-003) is actually the invention of Japanese company ‘Takeda’, but under ‘Make in India’, it will be mass produced in the country itself.
- For this, an agreement has been signed with Hyderabad’s pharma company ‘Biological E’.
- Since it is manufactured in India, its supply will be fast and without any interruption.
- According to Takeda, India is among the countries most affected by dengue in the world.
- All four serotypes of dengue virus have spread simultaneously in many parts of the country.
- The company’s head of medical affairs, Goh Choo Beng, said QDENGA has been designed to provide protection against all four serotypes.
- According to the company, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of QDENGA in dengue affected areas.
- WHO supports that in areas with high infection rates it can be included in public vaccination programs without pre-vaccination screening.
