Negligence inside a government school in Begusarai, Bihar took the life of a 12-year-old student. This incident took place on May 6 at Jahanpur Secondary School in Arwa village of Bihar. Vivaan Raj alias Munna, a student of class 6, died on the spot when a pile of iron grills collapsed in the classroom. When I bent down to pick up the pen, the grill collapsed. According to the information, there was a lot of crowd in the verandah of the school during the lunch break. To avoid the crowd, Vivaan went to a nearby classroom, where heavy iron grills were kept to make a science lab. During this time his pen fell near the grills. As he bent to pick up the pen, the entire pile of grills suddenly fell on him. The sharp grills stuck into his head and he died on the spot. Teachers ran away from the spot after the incident. There was chaos in the school premises after the incident. As soon as the news spread, anger erupted among the villagers. After reaching the school, the villagers surrounded the school. Seeing the situation worsening, many teachers fled from the spot. It is alleged that angry people surrounded school headmaster Amit Kumar and computer teacher Avnish Kumar and also beat them up. People protested by placing the dead body of the student on the road. As soon as information about the matter was received, Bachhwada police station reached the spot, but to control the crowd, additional police forces had to be called from Teghra and Bhagwanpur police stations. Angry people kept the body of the student on the road and blocked it for several hours. Later, administrative officials reached the spot and assured the family members and villagers of action and compensation, only then the protest ended. After this the body was sent for post-mortem. School principal suspended for negligence. District administration considering the matter as serious and has started action. Initial investigation has revealed negligence of the school administration.
