1. President Draupadi Murmu reached Moldova on the first day of her visit
- On July 20, President Draupadi Murmu reached Moldova, a country located in Eastern Europe. She will meet Moldova’s President Maya Sandu today.
- Murmu will meet Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova Igor Grosu and will also interact with members of the India-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group.
- President Murmu left on a visit to three countries on July 19. In this trip, Murmu will visit landlocked Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania located in Eastern Europe.
- President Murmu will meet top leaders in North Macedonia and Romania and will also address a business forum.
- Trade, investment, education, science and technology and cultural cooperation will be discussed during this visit.
- This visit of President Murmu to 3 countries is to improve India’s bilateral relations, this will strengthen the relations between the countries.
President Murmu is on a visit to these countries till 25th July. This is the first visit of an Indian President to Moldova and North Macedonia.
SPORTS 2. Indian shuttler PV Sindhu wins Japan Open 2026
- On July 19, India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu won the Japan Open Super-750 badminton tournament.
- Sindhu is the first badminton player from India to win this tournament.
- 31-year-old Sindhu defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 in the final match.
- Earlier, Sindhu had been a part of the biggest World Championship in 2019 and had won the international title.
- Sindhu’s last title was the Singapore Open Super 500 in 2022.
- Sindhu won the gold medal for the first time in the Asian Junior Badminton Championship in 2012.
- She was the first Indian woman to win bronze in the World Badminton Championship in 2013.
- PV Sindhu was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2013.
- PV Sindhu was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2015 and Padma Bhushan in the year 2020.
Japan Open Super-750
- Japan Open Super-750 is a prestigious international tournament of badminton, which is organized in Tokyo, Japan.
- It is part of the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour and is considered to be the fourth largest tournament in terms of ranking points and prize money in the sport.
- BWF organizes a variety of tournaments throughout the year. Super-750 is one of those selected 6 levels.
- Players get more than 7000 ranking points by winning tournaments of this level.
PV Sindhu was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2020.

3. Panama’s Foreign Minister Javier Eduardo visits India
- On July 19, Panama’s Foreign Minister Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vasquez arrived in India on a 5-day official visit. He will stay in India till 23rd July.
- Xavier will hold bilateral talks with Union Minister Piyush Goyal and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today.
- During this visit, Javier will discuss improving India-Panama relations.
- Also during this visit, discussions will be held on improving the areas of trade, investment, maritime security and connectivity.
- During this visit, Xavier will also participate in an official program in New Delhi on Tuesday.
- During this visit, External Affairs Minister Xavier will meet Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and discuss issues related to Central Ports, Shipping and Waterways at Transport Bhawan.
- Foreign Minister Xavier During this visit, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Will hold bilateral talks with Jaishankar and meet Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

- IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus has been jointly developed by India and Zanzibar. Two years have also been completed since its establishment.
Zanzibar President Hussein Ali officially visited India in 2023.

- The 72nd National Film Awards were announced on 18 July.
- The film Article 370 received the Best Feature Film Award for the year 2024.
- Rajkumar Rao starrer film ‘Srikanth’ received the Best Hindi Film award.
- Actress Yami Gautam was given the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in Article 370.
- At the same time, Mammootty for ‘Bramayugam’ and Karthik Aryan for ‘Chandu Champion’ were jointly given the Best Actor Award in Leading Role.
- Bhangaar received the award for Best Non-Feature Film.
National Film Awards
- National Film Awards started in 1954.
