1. Union Minister Piyush Goyal will visit 3 countries
- On July 13, Union Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Spain, Belgium and Finland.
- Goyal will lead a high-level business delegation during this visit.
- In the first part of his tour, Goyal will first reach Spain.
- He will take part in a business roundtable with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, CEOE and ICEX Spain Trade and Investment.
- In this session, Goyal will talk with industry leaders from Spain and India on issues like automotive, renewable energy, railways, artificial intelligence, semiconductor, food processing.
- After this, Goyal will visit Belgium on 14th and 15th and participate in the India-EU Business Roundtable.
- Goyal will talk on issues like foreign investment, trade, sustainable technology and supply chain in Belgium.
- After this, Goyal will visit Finland on 16th and 17th. He will participate in the India-Finland Business Roundtable.
- During this, issues related to cooperation in the fields of telecommunication, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, mobility and innovation will be discussed.
- In Finland, Goyal will also visit leading Finnish companies and research institutes such as Nokia, Kone, Kemppi Group and VTT Research Centre.
- During this visit, cooperation will be increased in sectors like clean energy, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, health service, gems and jewellery.

The purpose of this visit of Union Minister Piyush Goyal is to further strengthen India’s trade, investment and technology cooperation with Europe.

2. Tennis player Linda Noskova won women’s singles
- On July 12, Czech Republic tennis player Linda Noskova won the Women’s Singles Wimbledon 2026 title.
- This final match was played in the center court of All England Club. She defeated Karolina Muhova in the final.
- With this win, Noskova will get prize money of around Rs 38.5 crore (£3.6 million) and will reach her career-best ranking of 7th.
- Earlier, Marketa Vondrousova had won this title in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024.

Linda Noskova has become the third Czech player to win the Wimbledon women’s singles title in the last four years.
3. Animesh Kujur becomes the fastest Indian to run 100 meters
- On July 12, Animesh Kujur became the fastest Indian to run 100 meters abroad.
- Animesh completed the 100 meter race in 10.14 seconds in the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger held in Germany.
- 23 year old Animesh has broken his own record in terms of running fastest abroad.
- Animesh’s time of 10.14 seconds is the second fastest 100 meters performance in Indian history.
- The national record is 10.09 seconds, which was set by Gurinderveer Singh in the Federation Cup in Ranchi this year.
- Animesh Kujur has already made it to India’s 100m and 200m team for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
- After the Germany competition, he will join the Indian team’s training camp in Spala, Poland. After this he will represent India in the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow.
- The world record for 100 meter race is held in the name of Jamaica’s Usain Bolt. He made this record in the 2009 World Athletics Championship.

4. Kranti Gaur becomes the first Indian cricketer to be included in the Honor Board of Lord’s
- On July 12, female cricketer Kranti Gaur became the first Indian cricketer to be inducted on the Lord’s Honor Board.
- Kranti has made this honor board record by taking 5 wickets against England.
- Actually, in Home of Cricket, the names of the bowlers who take 5 wickets are written on the honor board.
- This has been a tradition at Lord’s for years, as per the tradition, now Kranti Gaur’s name will also be written on the Honor Board of Lord’s.
- In the first innings, Kranti took 5 wickets for just 37 runs in 17 overs.
- At the age of 22 years 333 days, Kranti Gaur became the youngest Indian woman bowler to take 5 wickets in Test cricket. He broke the record of Jhulan Goswami.
- There are 27 Indians on the Honor Board of Lord’s. These include names like Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev, Sourav Ganguly, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah.

5. Famous playback singer S. Janaki’s death
- On July 11, famous playback singer S. Janaki passed away. She was 88 years old. The news of his death came on 12 July.
- S. Janaki has recorded more than 48 thousand songs in her career in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages.
- Janaki started her singing career in 1957. His first Hindi song was in the 1958 film ‘Miss 58’.
- S. Janaki is known for Hindi songs like ‘Bol Baby Bol (Meri Jung), Prabhu More Avgun (Sur Sangam), O Maria (Sagar), Gopala-Gopala (Humse Hai Muqabla).
- S. Janaki has been awarded four National Film Awards and several state-level honours.
- In 2013, the Government of India had announced to award Padma Bhushan to Janaki, but she did not accept this honour.
- Janaki said that South Indian artists often get recognition at the national level late and this honor was given to them very late.

6. NTPC’s Lara Thermal Power Project gets approval
- On July 12, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited, India’s largest power generation company, approved the expansion of Lara Thermal Power Project in Chhattisgarh.
- The Central Government has approved an investment proposal of Rs 20,457 crore for this project.
- Under this investment, Lara Super Thermal Power Station (Stage-II) will be developed.
- A total of 1,600 MW ultra supercritical power units will be produced through this power plant.
- Ultra supercritical technologies are more advanced than coal-based plants and produce relatively lower carbon emissions per unit power generation.
- NTPC was established on November 7, 1975.
- NTPC is a major Central Public Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
- NTPC is India’s largest power generation company, producing electricity from a variety of sources including coal, gas, hydro, solar and wind power.
- NTPC is a ‘Maharatna’ company and its headquarters is located in New Delhi.
