1. John Ternes will be the new CEO of Apple
On April 21, Apple announced the name of the new CEO. Now John Ternes will be the new CEO in place of Apple CEO Tim Cook. He will take charge of the company from September 1, 2026.
- Cook will now take up the role of Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company and the Board has unanimously approved Cook’s appointment.
- John Ternes is Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.
- John Ternes joined Apple Company in 2001.
- John has played a key role in iPhone, iPad, Mac software.
Tim Cook:
- Tim Cook joined Apple in 1998 and became Apple’s CEO in 2011.
- Tim has co-developed and designed Apple products.
- Tim denies unlocking iPhone in FBI terrorism case.
- Tim worked on Apple’s privacy and sustainability.
- Tim became the first CEO of Apple to take Apple to $3 trillion.
- Under Tim’s leadership, Apple’s market value increased from $ 350 billion (about ₹ 32 lakh crore) to $ 4 trillion (about ₹ 350 lakh crore).
- The company’s annual revenue has also increased from $ 108 billion (about ₹ 10 lakh crore) to cross 416 billion dollars (₹ 39 lakh crore) by 2025.

2. CDS General Anil Chauhan arrives on UK tour
On April 20, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan arrived in London on a 3-day official visit, which is the first visit of an Indian CDS to the UK.
- General Chauhan will meet CDS Richard Knighton. Along with this, he also met the British military lead.
- During this visit, CDS Anil Chauhan and UK Chief will talk about cyber security and sharing of intelligence information.
- Along with this, defense industrial collaboration and joint military exercises will also be discussed during this visit.
- The objective of this visit is to increase inter-operability and operational co-operation between the countries.
- This visit of the CDS General comes after the meeting between senior military leaders of the two countries in New Delhi last month.
- This visit of CDS General is to improve the defense partnership between India and Britain and to build a stronger relationship between global security.
- During the visit the CDS General will also visit the Royal College of Defense Studies Institute. The Royal College of Defense Studies is a higher education institute in Britain, which provides training for the British Forces and Civil Service.

CDS General Anil Chauhan’s visit to UK is part of the 5th high level military engagement between the two countries.

3. India and South Korea signed 4 MoUs including sports, culture
On April 20, India and South Korea signed four MoUs for sports, culture and small and medium industry enterprise sector cooperation.
- The heads of both the countries signed a joint declaration to improve the structure of economic partnership and India-Korea digital bridge.
- These were signed after talks between PM Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in New Delhi.
- With this, both India and Korea will continue to contribute towards a peaceful, progressive and Indo-Pacific.
- India-Korea Digital Bridge is being launched by both the countries to further deepen partnership in AI, semiconductor and technology.
- PM Modi said- Bilateral trade between India and Korea is 27 billion dollars. Which is expected to be 50 billion dollars by 2030.
- Earlier in July 2018, President Moon Jae-in visited India.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has come to India on a 3-day visit and this is his first visit to India.

4. Former Rajya Sabha member Dr. Gopalrao Patil passes away
On April 20, former Rajya Sabha member and pediatrician Dr. Gopalrao Patil passed away. He was 95 years old.
- Patil was a doctor and later a BJP leader from Maharashtra.
- Patil was a Rajya Sabha member from BJP between 1994 and 2000.
- Patil also served as a member of key parliamentary committees including commerce, foreign affairs and railways.
- Patil was also a professor in a medical college in Kurnool, Hyderabad.
- Patil founded the Indian Pediatric Association and was its first president.
- Patil was also presented with several awards for his contribution as a pediatrician.
- Patil was a relative of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
- In 2019, Patil was honored with the ‘Jeevan Sadhna (Lifetime Achievement) Award’ by Swami Ramanand Tirtha Marathwada University.

Dr. Gopalrao Patil also served as Medical Officer in Kurundwad in Kolhapur district.

5. Best Player Award for tennis player Carlos at Laureus World Sports Awards
The Laureus World Sports Awards were announced on 20 April. In this, tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka received the Best Player of the Year award. Also, Paris Saint-Germain was chosen as ‘Team of the Year’.
- Alcaraz won the French and US Opens last year and the Australian Open in January.

- The Laureus World Sports Awards were held in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
- The awards were hosted by tennis player Novak Djokovic and freestyle skier Eileen Gu.

- Laureus World Sports is considered the Oscar of sports. It was established by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in 1999. Its first patron was Nelson Mandela.

- In the year 2025, Aranyak had defeated Mateusz Barthel of Poland in the FIDE World Cup. Aranyak is at 401st place in the world ranking.
