Today’s major current affairs, which are important for students preparing for government jobs-
NATIONAL
1. Government of India promulgated Immigration and Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2026
- On June 2, the Home Ministry issued the notification of Immigration and Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2026.
- According to the new rules, now foreigners coming to India on 180 day visa will be able to register to extend the visa period at any time.
- Earlier, registration had to be done within 14 days only after completion of 180 days.
- All foreign nationals will have to appeal within 30 days of receiving the order.
Rules related to citizenship of children also changed
- According to the Immigration and Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2026, if one of the parents of the child is an Indian citizen and wants to retain the child’s Indian citizenship, then the rules regarding registration of foreign citizens will not be applicable to the child.
- At the same time, if a child living in India acquires citizenship of another country, his parents will have to inform this to the registration officer within 30 days.
- Apart from this, in some cases the time limit for giving information has been fixed at 24 hours.
- The Home Ministry has made these changes under Section 30 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
- Parliament passed the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 in March 2025.
- This law includes provisions of many old laws including Passport Act 1920, Foreigners Registration Act 1939, Foreigners Act 1946 and Immigration Act 2000.
- Under the law, if someone illegally brings, accommodates or settles a foreigner in the country, he can be punished with 3 years in jail or a fine of Rs 2 to 5 lakh or both.

2. India sent medical help for Ebola affected people in Africa
- On June 2, India sent medical help to Ebola affected people in Africa.
- 43 tonnes of medical help has been sent to Ebola affected people.
- India has sent this assistance to the African Union’s health agency ‘Africa Center for Disease Control’ (Africa CDC).
- This medical consignment includes life-saving medicines and health equipment such as diagnostic kits, infection prevention material, protective equipment and case management supplies.
- This is also the second medical consignment sent by the Government of India. Earlier on May 24 also, consignments of emergency medical supplies were sent.
- On May 17, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola virus in Congo and Uganda a global health emergency.
- There is no vaccine for Ebola virus yet. However, WHO has said that this virus is not as dangerous as Covid-19.
- No new case of Ebola has been reported in India since 2014.
- The first case and outbreak of Ebola virus in the world was reported in the year 1976.

India has sent this medical help under its ‘Vaccine Maitri’ and medical assistance policy.
3.Electronics and IT Ministry signs MoU with DPIIT
- On June 2, the Digital India Bhasini (BHASINI) platform signed an MoU with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
- Under this MoU, voice-based multilingual services will be made available to entrepreneurs, investors and startups through Bhashini’s platforms like ‘Udyat’, ‘Mitra’, ‘AppMitra’ and ‘Vakta’.
- According to the Electronics and IT Ministry, the objective of this MoU is to strengthen multilingual digital capability.
- The objective of this MoU is to provide multilingual access i.e. information in more than one language on the digital platforms of DPIIT.
- This includes starting work and providing related services in more than one language.
- This will promote government information, startup and industrial services, communication.
- Having information in more than one language will reduce linguistic difficulties among people and
- The objective of this MoU is to start administration and service in all the 22 languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
- DPIIT works to strengthen the industry and internal trade eco-system in the country.
- Bhashini’s translation and technology will be integrated into DPIIT platforms.
- Domain-specific multilingual AI models will be developed in this MoU. Additionally, multilingual voice based data sets will be created.
BHASINI (Speaker)
- Bhashini (Language Interface for India) works to promote the national language of India and comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
- It uses AI-based language technology to provide translation, speech and multilingual digital services.
- Which helps citizens to access digital platforms in their preferred language.

The objective of BHASINI is to strengthen AI based digital administration.
SPORTS
4. First World Yogasana Championship will start in Ahmedabad
- The first ‘World Yogasana Championship’ will start in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from June 4.
- Athletes from more than 40 countries will participate in this championship.
- The American Yogasan team will also come to India to participate in this championship.
- India aims to include Yogasana as a sport in the 2036 Olympics.
- This championship is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of AYUSH and Yogasan Body.
- The purpose of the championship is to introduce competition rules and scoring standards for yoga across the world.
- This represents a major step in India’s campaign to gain wider international recognition for yoga as a sport.
- On May 27, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had also announced the inclusion of ‘Yogasana’ in the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

India will host the Commonwealth Games 2030.

5. Kaziranga National Park launches ‘e-shop’
- On June 2, Amazon and GeM (Government e-Marketplace) launched an MoU ‘e-shop’.
- Under this MoU, Kaziranga National Park will sell its handloom products through Amazon.
- The aim of launching the ‘e-shop’ in Kaziranga is to enhance forest conservation and promote livelihood related programs.
- Local artisans and women self-help groups of Kaziranga will now be able to sell hand-made (handicraft) products online.
- A part of the income from Kaziranga’ e-shop will be spent on wildlife conservation and park management.
- This initiative is under Digital India and through this initiative e-commerce is being used for environment and wildlife protection.
- Kaziranga is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for the one-horned rhinoceros.
- Kaziranga ‘E-Shop’ to make local communities self-reliant so that they can reduce their dependence on the forest.
- Kaziranga National Park is located in Assam and is known for the ‘Big Five’ fauna.
- Amazon’s ‘Karigar’ program is playing an important role in this initiative.
