How difficult it is to balance work life while doing a private job can be gauged from the post written by a civil engineer from Hyderabad. The 25-year-old civil engineer expressed her grief through a post written on Reddit. He wrote that he has been working as a civil engineer in a big construction company in Hyderabad for the last 3 years. His increment was Rs 1000 every year. At present his salary is Rs 23000. The woman has raised questions on poor work life balance.

Debate begins regarding 6 days of work

One of his posts related to six days continuous job, low salary, lack of time for family and mental fatigue is going viral on social media. This post has sparked a new debate across the country regarding work-life balance, mental health of employees, low wages and six-day working system.

Did B.Tech from IIIT

The woman had obtained a B.Tech degree from IIIT Nuzvid in the year 2023. She is grateful to have the job, but the long work hours throughout the week leave her feeling very tired. He said that after returning home, he often has no energy left to do small household chores or even spend time with his family. For the last 3 years I have been working 6 days a week.

Only Rs 3000 increased in 3 years

This woman wrote in her post that ‘I really want to change my job. I am ready to work even at a lower salary, but other companies are also setting the condition of working for 6 days.

A Reddit user asked how do you pay rent and save money? To this the engineer replied, ‘There is no money left for savings, 8 thousand goes on rent, I send 10 thousand home, and keep 5 thousand for commuting and other expenses.

The engineer also told that he tried to find another job but found almost the same conditions there. According to him, many companies in the civil engineering and infrastructure sector still work six days a week.

In such a situation, it is difficult to improve work-life balance just by changing companies. He said that if we want a better life then perhaps the entire sector may have to be changed, but this decision is not easy for everyone.

Debate broke out on social media

As soon as this post went viral on Reddit, not only civil engineers, but also employees working in construction, sales, IT and other sectors admitted that they too are going through similar problems.

Many people said that the work pressure in on-site infrastructure jobs is very high and employees have to work continuously for long hours.

While some people believed that employees working in design, consulting and multinational (MNC) companies get a better environment. In these companies, work days are mostly five days and work-life balance is also better for the employees.
