In countries like America, Britain, Australia and Canada, the trend of teaching children at home i.e. home schooling is increasing rapidly. In 2024, about 32 lakh or 6% of school-age children in America studied at home. This number is double that of 2019. In the past, home schooling was primarily associated with traditional Christians. But now its trend is increasing in other communities also. Many parents are worried about discrimination in schools, insensitive curriculum, social media pressure and the mental health of children. According to a WHO survey conducted in 44 countries, the number of 15-year-old girls feeling school pressure increased from 54% to 63% between 2018 and 2022. A survey in England found that the education of one in six home-schooled children was affected by mental health. However, it is hardly allowed in China, Germany, Greece, Spain and Turkey. The highest increase in home schooling between 2019-24 was in America. Here about 32 lakh children studied at home, which is an increase of about 120%. Similarly, 1 lakh 12 thousand (105%) children in Britain and 63 thousand (95%) children in Australia did home schooling.
