NATIONAL
1. Senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit will be the director of Intelligence Bureau.
- On June 25, the Central Government appointed IPS officer Mahesh Dixit as the Director of Intelligence Bureau.
- Mahesh will replace Tapan Kumar Deka who is completing his tenure on June 30.
- Mahesh Dixit is a 1993 batch IPS officer. He was a doctor by profession and later joined the IPS service.
- The Central Government has appointed Mahesh as IB Director for two years.
- Mahesh was the head of Srinagar unit of IB at the time of removal of Article 370.
- Intelligence Bureau is the internal intelligence agency of India, which works under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
- As IB chief, Mahesh Dixit will be responsible for counter-terrorism operations and internal security.
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his name.
Mahesh Dixit has 26 years of experience in national security matters.
2. Government removed restrictions on commercial LPG supply
- On June 25, the Central Government has removed the restrictions on the supply of commercial and industrial LPG.
- Now LPG will be made available to hotels, restaurants, industries and other commercial buyers like before.
- This decision has been taken after the end of the US-Iran war in West Asia.
- Bulk LPG supply, which was stopped during the crisis, has also been restarted. Currently it has been restored to 50% of pre-crisis consumption.
- The Petroleum Ministry has instructed oil companies to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- During the war, the global crude oil price had reached $ 120 per barrel, which has now come down to $ 73.75 per barrel.
- The government has also decided to make some part of the C3-C4 hydrocarbon stream available again to the petrochemical industries while maintaining adequate availability of domestic LPG.
- Also, a target has been set to maintain domestic LPG production at least 40 thousand metric tons per day.
3. Resignation of General Secretary and member of Ram Janmabhoomi Trust
- On June 26, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra resigned.
- The resignations of both have come at a time when allegations related to theft of Ram Temple offerings and financial management are being investigated.
- Both of them have left their posts taking moral responsibility due to the ongoing controversy.
- Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested 8 people on the basis of the first FIR registered in this case.
- A case was registered at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi police station on the complaint of trust member Krishnamohan.

4. India tops ISSF Junior World Championship
- India topped the medal table in the ISSF Junior World Shooting Championship that ended on June 26.
- This competition was held in Germany.
- India won 7 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals. India remained on top with 24 medals.
- From India, Sejal Kamble won 2 gold medals, while Sameer, Rohat Kanyan, Vanshika Chaudhary, Navya Bishnoi and Pritam Kendre won one gold medal each.
- ISSF i.e. International Shooting Sports Federation is the global regulatory body of shooting sports.
The Sports Ministry congratulated the winning players and promised help for their training.

5. Roundtable meeting on AI and chips between India and America
- On June 26, a high level meeting was held between India and America on technology cooperation.
- The main topic of this discussion was Artificial Intelligence (AI) and semiconductor chips.
- The meeting was attended by government, industry and technology experts and discussed promoting joint investment and research in AI and chip manufacturing.
- Both countries emphasized on developing reliable and secure semiconductor supply chains.
- The US assured that it will not cut off the supply of AI technology to India.
- The Secretary of the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) presented India’s side in this.
- The US also talked about the rollout of modern AI models like ‘Anthropic Fable’ in India.
- Semiconductor chips are used in every modern machine from smartphones to fighter planes.

6. Amit Shah launches National Anti-Narcotics Roadmap
- On June 26, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the National Anti-Narcotics Roadmap.
- Shah released the ‘Vision Document 2026-2029’ while chairing the 10th meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center in New Delhi.
- Under the vision document, 2,09,500 kg of narcotics seized by central and state agencies will be destroyed, worth approximately Rs 6,000 crore.
- The Vision Document (2026–2029) was released, setting out the national anti-narcotics strategy for the next three years.
- The three main points of the roadmap are – strict action on drug trafficking, de-addiction and rehabilitation and public awareness and prevention.
- The roadmap aims to make India drug-free by 2047.
- For this, instructions have also been given to run awareness campaigns in schools and colleges.
- The government will also intensify financial investigations to curb illegal earnings from drugs.
- The NCORD meeting was attended by representatives of different security agencies and ministries.
7. Operation Amistad begins to provide aid to Venezuela
- On June 26, India launched ‘Operation Amistad’ for earthquake-hit Venezuela.
- ‘Amistad’ means ‘friendship’ in Spanish.
- Two C-17 aircraft of the Indian Air Force left with relief material. More than 35 tonnes of essential relief material has been sent.
- Apart from this, a 41-member special medical team and a field hospital unit of the Indian Army have been sent to Venezuela.
- The objective of this campaign is to provide immediate medical assistance and humanitarian relief to the earthquake affected people.
- Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar announced this operation.
- So far 235 people have died in the devastating earthquake in Venezuela.
- Operation Amistad was intended to aid Venezuela’s reconstruction efforts.
- India and Venezuela have long-standing bilateral relations.
The relief material includes 35 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies.
