Bihar JEE Main Topper Shubham Secures 100 Percentile, All India Rank 6

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the combined result of JEE Main 2026 (Session-1 and Session-2). Shubham Kumar of Gaya has topped Bihar in this examination.

Shubham has secured 6th position in the entire country by securing 100 percentile. His performance in the first session also was excellent, and now he has done wonders in the final result.

Shubham Kumar has now started preparing for his next goal, JEE Advanced. His dream is to take admission in Computer Science from IIT Mumbai.

A total of 26 candidates have secured 100 percentile but not a single woman candidate is included in this. All full scorers are boys. NTA has also informed that a total of 2,50,182 students have qualified for JEE Advanced.

Got a lot of support from family

Shubham Kumar of Gaya has been a student of British English School. He gave credit for his success to his parents and teachers. Shubham told that after seeing the result, he first gave this good news to his parents.

His father Shiv Kumar is involved in hardware business, while mother Kanchan Devi is a housewife. The trust and support of his family was his biggest strength. He described his preparation as completely concept based.

According to Shubham, he studied as per regular time-table and paid special attention to weak subjects. Mock tests and constant revision were his main strategies during preparation. He used to study for about 10 to 12 hours daily.

He said, “There is no need to study 24 hours a day, but the right strategy and continuous practice is necessary. Keep yourself fresh by taking breaks in between.” He also received 100% scholarship from the coaching institute.

Result based on NTA score

According to NTA, a total of 16,04,854 candidates had registered for Paper-1, out of which 15,38,468 candidates appeared in the examination. Along with the final result of JEE Main, NTA has also released the category-wise cut-off for JEE Advanced 2026.

The final result has been prepared on the basis of the best NTA score of the candidates who appeared in both the sessions. According to the cut-off, 93.41 percentile has been fixed for the general category. On this basis, 96,873 candidates have been declared eligible for JEE Advanced.

In the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, 25,009 candidates have qualified at 82.41 percentile, while in the OBC category, 67,597 candidates have qualified at 80.92 percentile. For SC category, 37,522 candidates have been successful at 63.91 percentile and for ST category, 18,790 candidates have been successful at 52.01 percentile.

Whereas, in the disabled category, 4,391 candidates with 0.0023 percentile have been considered eligible. A total of 2,50,182 candidates across all categories have been declared qualified for JEE Advanced 2026.

NTA has clarified that only the candidates falling within the prescribed cut-off will be able to apply for the advanced examination. Successful candidates in Advanced will get admission in the country’s premier Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) on the basis of merit.

Total 26 toppers including both sessions

A total of 26 students have scored 100 percentile in both the sessions together. Among those who got 100 percentile score, maximum 5-5 students are from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

After this, 4 students are included from Rajasthan, 3 from Delhi and 2 each from Maharashtra and Haryana. Whereas one student each from Chandigarh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Gujarat has achieved this feat.

13 lakhs took the exam in the first session also

NTA had conducted JEE Main session 1 exam from 21 to 29 January. More than 13 lakh students had participated in it. Students can check the result by visiting the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students who participated in the examination can download the scorecard by entering the application number, password.
