The candidates were going to march from Patna College to BPSC office this morning. The police stopped them midway and beat them fiercely.
This is the first lathicharge on students after the formation of the new government in Bihar. Before this, candidates of BPSC TRE-4 recruitment have become victims of lathi charge many times.
Candidates demanding notification of 46 thousand recruitments
The last TRE-3 recruitment was held in 2024 for the vacant posts of teachers in the state. After this, candidates started demanding new notification. However, the Commission has not yet issued the notification. With the help of this examination, 27 thousand teachers are to be recruited in the state.

Former Education Minister had said – Notification will be given this year
Previous Education Minister Sunil Kumar had said in September 2025 – Vacancy will be created for more than 26 thousand posts in TRE-4. The vacancies will be sent to BPSC within the next 4 to 5 days. Then in December 2025 he said – We assure the candidates that the process of TRE will be started after January.
However, the recruitment process has not started yet. A new government was also formed in the state. New Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari has said – We all have to together change Bihar. The problems of those who are protesting will be resolved soon.
TRE-4 missing from exam calendar, candidates angry
On February 2, the Commission released the calendar of all competitive examinations of BPSC to be held in 2026. There is no mention of TRE-4 in this. This enraged the candidates and the protest started once again.
Bihar Public Service Commission Secretary Satya Prakash Sharma said, ‘Till now BPSC has not received the recommendation from the Bihar government. This is the reason why this exam has not been discussed in the calendar of BPSC-2026. If the government sends a notification, it will be included in the examination calendar of the Commission.
Domicile policy will be implemented for the first time
For the first time in TRE-4, there will be a provision that about 85 percent seats will be reserved for the youth of Bihar. Residents of other states and people from Bihar who have matriculation and intermediate degrees from other states will be recruited on 15 percent seats.
If Domicile is implemented, more youth of Bihar will get the opportunity to become teachers. There have been allegations in earlier appointments that youth from outside Bihar took a lot of seats.
