- IIT Kanpur Cyber Security Course: Admission Open For 60 Seats In 2027

IIT Kanpur: From its new academic session, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has started Bachelor of Cyber Security course under the new UG programme.
Candidates who want to make a career in the world of coding, ethical hacking and digital security can take admission in cyber security course.
This program will start from July 2027. It will be offered by Wadhwani School of AI and Intelligent Systems.

Live hackathon will be held in July
Students selected after JEE Main screening and profile shortlisting will be called to the campus of IIT Kanpur in the first week of July. There will be a live hackathon, where students will have to demonstrate live technical and ethical hacking skills.
What is cyber security course?
IIT Kanpur’s ‘Bachelor of Cyber Security’ program is a 4-year undergraduate course. Its syllabus will give students an opportunity to work on practical and live projects. IIT Kanpur has a strong cyber security ecosystem and C3i hub, which will be beneficial in this course.
Under graduate program will be of 4 years
This course is a 4 year undergraduate programme. Students will have to spend their first two years in the main campus of IIT Kanpur. During this, they will be taught basic and advanced theory of cyber security.
Practical training will be given in the controlled environment of the institute’s hi-tech laboratories, through which students will be able to understand topics like network security, cryptography and threat intelligence in detail.
In the third and fourth years of the course, students will be sent for internship in top security organizations of the Government of India. During this period, students will work on real-world cyber projects related to the national security of the country.
Webpage will be launched by next week
IIT Kanpur is in the process of launching a webpage for this course. It is expected to go live by next week.
The institute said that this program has been started in view of the increasing importance of cyber security and the need for trained professionals in this field. IIT Kanpur Director Manindra Aggarwal said that cyber security has become a special area for the security of digital infrastructure and national systems.
