1. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar reached Kuwait during his visit to countries.
- Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has reached Kuwait from 7 to 9 July.
- This is part of his visit to the four Gulf countries Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
- During this visit, S Jaishankar spoke to Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
- During this visit, Jaishankar talked about India-Kuwait bilateral relations, trade, business investment and energy cooperation.
- The objective of this visit is to further strengthen the strategic partnership with India and the Gulf countries and to discuss regional and global issues.
- The visit is part of India’s broader diplomatic effort to strengthen Gulf countries’ support for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) mission.
- S Jaishankar first reached Qatar during this visit on 5-6 July.

2. Approval for import of medicines from Navi Mumbai International Airport
- On July 8, the Central Government approved the import of medicines through Navi Mumbai International Airport.
- The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given this approval by issuing a notification.
- Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945 was amended for import of medicines through airports.
- After this decision, the number of ports/airports approved for import of medicines in India increased to 42.
- The objective of this decision is to strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain and improve logistics.
- The approval of Navi Mumbai International Airport is important to promote business and ensure fast and smooth availability of medicines.
- This step of the government will also reduce the transportation cost of pharma companies.
- In this, special customs and health offices will also be set up at the airport to check the quality of medicines.
- Navi Mumbai International Airport has been inaugurated only on 5th July 2026.
- After its domestic flights, international passenger services will start from July 15, 2026.

Navi Mumbai International Airport is one of the largest greenfield airport projects in India.

3. Tennis player Novak Djokovic played the longest match of Wimbledon
- On July 8, Novak Djokovic became the player to win the longest men’s singles quarterfinal in Wimbledon history.
- Djokovic defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada, 14 years younger than him, in 5 hours 15 minutes on the center court of the All England Club.
- Earlier in 2008, the quarter-final between Rainer Schuttler and Arno Clement lasted for 5 hours 12 minutes.
- With this, Djokovic has also become the player to play the most 5-set Grand Slam matches in the Open Era.
- Djokovic also broke the record of Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka (49 times) by playing the 50th 5 set singles match of his Grand Slam career.
- Djokovic also became the third player in the Open Era to play 15 men’s singles semi-finals in a single Grand Slam.

4. RBI will sell government securities worth Rs 32 thousand crores to raise funds.
- On July 8, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will auction government securities worth Rs 32,000 crore to raise funds for the Government of India.
- This auction will be held on July 10 and its settlement will take place on July 13.
- Let us tell you that the government issues government securities and treasury bills for its borrowing.
- Whose auction is conducted by RBI as the banker and loan manager of the government.
- According to RBI, the auction will be conducted from Mumbai office using ‘multiple price method’.
- Both competitive and non-competitive bids will be submitted electronically through RBI’s e-Kuber platform on July 10.
- Individual investors can participate in it through the Retail Direct portal of RBI.
- This auction is part of the government’s market borrowing program to finance its expenses by issuing sovereign debt instruments.

5. Police will have only one khaki uniform in all states
- On July 8, under One Nation One Uniform, a uniform khaki uniform has been fixed for the police across the country.
- This decision on khaki uniform has been taken after the process of Home Ministry and Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
- After this decision, the police uniform in all the states will be of khaki color and of the same design.
- The idea of One Nation One Uniform was introduced by PM Narendra Modi on 28 October 2022.
- Its objective is to establish a common identity for the police across the country.
- At present, the color, design and badges of police uniforms of every state in India are different.
- According to BPR&D, instead of keeping the variety of colors available in Khaki, a specific color and design will be decided in it.
- With this, all types of policemen will be seen in khaki uniform with similar color and design.
- This rule will be for all the states but this proposal will not be imposed on the states, rather it will be implemented on the basis of consensus.
- In India, ‘Police’ is a part of the State List, hence the final decision will be taken only with the consent of the States.
- Along with this, the police uniform in Kolkata used to be white. It is changing there too.
- In 1847, British Indian Army officer Sir Harry Burnett Lumsden first introduced khaki-coloured official uniform in the then Punjab region (Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, present-day Pakistan).
- After the Rebellion of 1857, the British government reorganized the police system throughout India.
- The Police Act was enacted in 1861. After this Act, organized police forces were formed in most of the provinces of India.
- After the Police Act, khaki uniform was widely adopted as the standard identity of the police.
5. CM Yogi launches cashless health facility
- On July 8, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme from Varanasi.
- Through this scheme, eligible teachers and their families will be provided cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in Ayushman Bharat affiliated hospitals across the country.
- Employees of Basic Education Department and Secondary Education Department will benefit from this.
- Through this scheme, the government aims to provide better health security to teachers and reduce the financial burden of treatment of serious diseases.
- Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Cards will be issued to the beneficiaries, through which treatment can be done in the listed hospitals.
- In the same program, the Chief Minister also released an assistance amount of Rs 1,200 per student through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the students of about 1.1 crore council schools of the state, so that they can buy uniforms, shoes, bags and other educational materials.
- In future, teachers and employees of the Higher Education Department will also be connected to it.
- This is expected to reduce the financial burden of expensive treatment to a great extent.
- The Basic Education Department has prepared a portal to collect online data of teachers.
- So far 7,89,032 beneficiaries have registered their details.
