CBSE has extended the last date of application for verification and re-evaluation of 12th board exam answer sheet from June 6 to June 7. According to the board, this decision has been taken in view of giving more time to the students and in view of the technical problems encountered on the portal.
CBSE had launched an online portal for post-result issues on June 2. After this, many students had complained of facing many problems while viewing the answer sheet and applying for verification and re-evaluation.
On the other hand, the Board has lodged an FIR in case of cyber attacks on the portal. Delhi Police has started investigating the case. According to the board, continuous cyber attacks were carried out on the Post-Result Services portal in the last three days, which started from June 2, which were stopped in time.

63 thousand applications for re-evaluation
According to officials, a total of 70,433 applications have been received through the Post-Result Services portal till June 4. These included 7,314 marks verification and 63,119 applications for re-evaluation. CBSE’s re-evaluation portal was to be launched on June 1, but due to technical reasons it was launched on June 2.
As soon as the portal was launched, some mischievous elements tried to stall it. They launched a ‘Denial of Service’ attack. This resulted in 15 lakh hits on the website within just two minutes. Apart from this, attempts were also made to open the file without permission more than one lakh times.
According to the board, no case of any data leak or unauthorized access has come to light so far. Cyber security teams from IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, Digital India Corporation, I4C, CERT-In and other central agencies helped to deal with the cyber attacks.
CBSE in controversy after results, 5 developments
- Introduction to OSM System: CBSE implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for the first time from 12th board exam of 2026. Under this, students’ copies were scanned and checked digitally. The board claimed that this would make the evaluation more transparent and accurate.
- Result released on 13 May 2026: CBSE declared the 12th result on 13 May 2026. This time the pass percentage was 85.20%, which was 3.19 percentage points less than 88.39% in 2025. As soon as the results came, many students started complaining about getting less marks than expected.
- Students raised questions: After the results, students alleged on social media that there were technical glitches in the OSM system. Some students claimed that their scanned copies were blurry, some answers were not checked and in many cases the marks were much lower than expected.
- Controversy escalated due to student Vedanta’s claim: Delhi student Vedant Srivastava claimed that during the re-evaluation process, he was sent another student’s copy instead of his Physics copy. CBSE admitted the mistake and provided the correct copy. The incident raised questions about the reliability of the OSM system.
- CBSE Chairman removed, investigation and re-evaluation started: The central government transferred CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta. Also ordered to investigate the procurement process and technical flaws related to OSM.
