CUET-UG Exam Delayed | Technical Glitch Halts Nationwide Exams

There was massive chaos on the very first day of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG 2026) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Due to non-uploading of online papers, the Saturday morning shift examination could start with a delay of about two and a quarter hours.

On Saturday, this problem persisted at examination centers across the country including Jaipur. Students and parents remained confused due to lack of concrete information about the centres. Dissatisfaction of parents was also seen at many centres.

NTA said- problem arose due to technical fault of TCS

Seeing the matter escalating, NTA gave clarification. NTA said that this major problem arose due to technical glitch of M/s TCS, the agency handling the responsibility of conducting the examination. Due to server problem, online question paper could not be uploaded to the centers on time.

Entry was made at 8 o’clock, computer did not open till 11:23

The exam for Saturday morning shift was to start at 9:00 am. For this, the gates at the examination centers were closed at 8:00 in the morning and entry was stopped. The candidates reached the centers much before the scheduled time.

Due to technical glitch, the exam could not start till 11:23 am. Due to sitting in front of the computer screen for more than 3 hours without any correct information, there was nervousness among the candidates and a lot of anger among the parents.

Change in timing of second innings

The huge delay in the first innings has had a direct impact on the second innings test. NTA has hastily amended the timing of the second innings.

  • new time : Now the entry of the candidates will start from 2:30 pm, while the examination will start at 4:00 pm.
  • old time: According to the first schedule, the second shift exam was to start from 3:00 pm.

Candidates bear the brunt of technical shortcomings

The candidates allege that they kept trying to get information from the officials posted at the examination centres. They were asked to wait until the technical problem was resolved. Parents also raised questions regarding examination management. He says that students are instructed to reach on time and follow the prescribed rules, but the candidates have to bear the brunt of lack of technical preparation.

Candidate Lavish Kaushik, who came to appear for the exam at Shri Balaji Engineering College Center located at Dadi Ka Phatak in Jaipur, said that there was a lot of chaos at the centre.

NTA expressed regret, will not let students suffer loss

NTA has officially expressed regret for the huge inconvenience caused to the candidates and parents. The agency has clarified that the morning shift candidates will not be allowed to suffer any kind of loss due to this technical delay. All candidates will be given full time allotted for the examination.

A large number of people were seen upset outside Shri Balaji Institute of Technology located at Dadi Ka Phatak in Jaipur. The gate was closed at the scheduled time in the morning. CUET-UG candidates were not informed about the technical glitch after entry into the examination centre. The exam, which started at 9 am on Saturday, started at around 11:23 am. It was said at the examination centers that children would be given extra time.

CUET-UG is one of the biggest entrance exams in the country. Through this, admission is given to graduation courses in many higher educational institutions including central universities. This examination is conducted by NTA.
