NEET Student Fake OMR Controversy

Arya Singh of Kanpur, who gave Re Neet exam on June 21, made serious allegations against NTA. Taking her OMR sheet, she along with her father reached Jantar Mantar in Delhi to protest against NTA.

Now regarding Arya, NTA has said that the original OMR sheet of the candidate is safe with NTA, which was also sent to his registered email during the challenge window of OMR response.

The photo which is going viral on the internet has been created by digitally tampering with the original OMR sheet. The time of signature of the invigilator on the original sheet is recorded as 3:45 pm. This has been changed to 2:45 pm in the edited photo. Apart from this, many digital changes have been detected on the fake sheets. NTA has told that Arya’s score of 167 marks is completely correct and intact.

NTA has clarified that creating, circulating fake or edited OMR sheets or making false claims against the records of any public examination is a serious and punishable offense under the ‘Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024’. Action can be taken against those who do so.

Arya had demanded investigation from NTA

After the release of Re Neet results, Kanpur student Arya Singh had raised serious questions on the National Testing Agency (NTA). Arya alleges that according to the matching of her OMR sheet, her score was 609, while viewing her result on the NTA website, two different scores were seen within just two hours.

The troubled student has sent a mail with evidence to the Education Minister and NTA demanding an investigation. On the night of 13th, when his OMR sheet came on the official website of NTA, the sequence of question numbers in it was wrong. However, when he compared his questions, his score was 609.

After this, Arya immediately complained about this sequence on the challenge portal of NTA. In response to the complaint, NTA sent the updated OMR sheet on its official website, in which the sequence of question numbers was corrected, but the score remained 609. Arya’s question was how two different results of the same student could be released within a few hours.

Complaint sent to NTA and Education Minister

After this difference was revealed in the result, Arya submitted the screenshots, OMR sheet and other documents available with her. Arya sent it to NTA and Union Education Minister through email. Arya has demanded that an impartial investigation be conducted into her case. If there is any technical mistake then it should be rectified as soon as possible.

Abhay Yadav’s claims rejected

Student Abhay Yadav had also mentioned the difference between the OMR sheet and the actual marks. On this NTA said, the agency has checked the records. The original OMR sheet was also sent to the student’s registered email. The student had publicly claimed that he had missed only 5 questions and his score should have been 634 marks, but this is not true in the government records. According to records, 44 out of 180 questions were left unsolved. The candidate’s score of 164 marks is verified and will remain the same.

Avnish Srivastava’s lie caught

One of the most talked about cases of Re Neet is the case of Avnish Srivastava. His family had alleged that the OMR sheet uploaded by NTA was that of another student named Ajit Singh. However, NTA has completely denied the exchange of answer sheets.

According to the agency, forensic investigation revealed that the viral photo was not the official OMR sheet, but a digitally modified version of Avneesh’s own answer sheet. The agency said only identification related fields were changed, while other information including the barcode remained the same as in the original OMR sheet. The agency also pointed out several signs of digital manipulation. These included spelling mistakes.

Changes found in Pratibha Trivedi’s OMR sheet

NTA also rejected the allegations made by candidate Pratibha Trivedi regarding her OMR sheet. According to the agency, the original OMR sheet was already available with NTA and was also sent to the candidate by email during the challenge window of the official OMR response.

However, the picture going viral on social media is not of the real documents. The photo that is going viral is a digitally modified version of the original OMR sheet, the agency said. This is not the sheet present in the records of NTA and a lot of changes have been made in it.
