1. Vivek Aggarwal becomes Vice President of FATF
- On June 21, 1994 batch IAS Vivek Aggarwal was elected Vice President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
- FATF is one of the most important institutions to monitor money laundering and terrorism funding across the world.
- Vivek will work for India’s strict policy against terrorism and to stop the funding of terrorists globally.
- Vivek has also been Additional Secretary in the Revenue Department of the Finance Ministry from 2023 to 2025.
- Vivek was the head of India’s delegation in 2024 and was also a part of FATF meetings.
- In 2024, Vivek was the Director of India’s Financial Intelligence Unit – India.
- In 2025, Vivek Aggarwal was appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.
- FATF sets such rules and standards for the countries of the world, the purpose of which is to stop money laundering and funding for terrorism.
- FATF was established in 1989 on the initiative of the G-7 countries and its headquarters is in Paris, France.
FATF currently has 39 member countries, including India as a full member since 2010.
2. Three indigenous warships commissioned in Navy
- On June 21, three indigenous warships INS Dunagiri, INS Mahavidh and anti-submarine INS Agray were commissioned into the Indian Navy. These have been designed and manufactured in the country itself.
- INS Modifier can continuously travel up to 12 thousand kilometers at a time.
- INS Dunagiri is equipped with 8 BrahMos missiles.
- At the same time, INS Agray can destroy enemy submarines near the Indian coastline.
- PM Narendra Modi was also present on this occasion.
INS Dunagiri
- INS Dunagiri is the 5th stealth frigate warship of Project-17A.
- It has been prepared by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
- It has been built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) of Kolkata.
- The ship’s Commanding Officer (Designate) Captain Divya Alok said Dunagiri will form part of the Eastern Naval Command and Eastern Fleet.
- The Indian Navy currently has about 140 to 145 active warships.
- The main goal of the Navy is to increase the total number of its ships from 150 to 160 by the year 2030.
- India deploys these warships mainly in three naval commands and one strategic island command.
- Ships from Visakhapatnam (Eastern Command) blockade China in the Bay of Bengal and Malacca.
INS Modifier Survey Vessel (Large)
- INS Modhik is the fourth ship of the Survey Vessel (Large) series.
- The job of INS Moderator is to survey the ocean.
- It is designed for hydrographic survey, marine data collection and defence-civil use along the coast and in the deep sea.
- Surveying ports and sea routes is also included in its main work.
INS Agray Arnala
- INS Agray is the fourth anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft of the Arnala class.
- It is equipped with light torpedoes, indigenous rocket launcher and advanced sonar system.
- It can detect and target enemy submarines stationed at the port.

3. Athlete Neeraj Chopra received the Best Male Athlete of the Year
- On June 21, athlete Neeraj Chopra was selected as the Best Male Athlete of the Year 2025 at the Indian Athletics Awards.
- After participating in the Doha Diamond League on Friday night, Neeraj reached New Delhi directly for the Indian Athletics Awards Ceremony on Saturday.
- Neeraj created a junior national record by winning the gold medal in the National Junior Athletics Championship in 2012.
- In 2025, he became the first Indian to cross the 90 meter mark with a throw of 90.23 meters in the Doha Diamond League.
- Along with this, the Best Athlete of the Year 2025 award among women was given to 3000 meter steeplechase national record holder Parul Chaudhary.
- Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Along with this, former Asian Games gold medalist Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, shot put legend Bahadur Singh Chauhan and long jumper Anju Bobby George have also been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
- This award, started by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), was organized in New Delhi.

4. Vishwas appointed as new ambassador of India to Slovakia
- On June 20, the Government of India appointed Senior Indian Foreign Officer Vishwas Vidu Sapkal as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Slovakia.
- In 2022, Vishwas was appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced his appointment.
- From 1998 to 2010, Vishwas held several positions in the Ministry of External Affairs. He served in Indian missions in Russia (Moscow), Armenia (Yerevan) and Chicago.
- From 2016 to 2019, Vishwas was appointed High Commissioner of India to Fiji. There were also accredited representatives for the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
- Recently PM Modi was on a visit to Slovakia from 14 to 16 June. It is a landlocked country located in Central Europe.

MISCELLENEOUS 5. Coal gasification project approved in Odisha
- On June 20, the foundation stone of India’s first commercial scale coal-to-ammonium nitrate project was laid at Lakhanpur (Jharsuguda), Odisha.
- President Draupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for India’s first commercial-scale coal-to-ammonium nitrate project.
- The estimated cost of this project is Rs 25,000 crore. In this, coal is directly converted into ammonium nitrate through gasification technology.
- These projects will be jointly developed by Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL).
- BCGCL is a joint venture between Coal India Limited (CIL), Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) and GAIL (India) Limited.
- About 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate will be produced daily in this project, which will be used in the mining industry.
- Indigenous Pressurized Fluidized Bed Gasification (PFBG) technology, developed by BHEL, will be used in this project.
This gasification project will be helpful in reducing India’s dependence on imports of chemicals and fertilizers.
