Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the result of Prelims Exam 2026 late night on June 15. A total of 13,343 candidates have qualified this exam.

Now 13,343 candidates will appear in the Mains examination, this examination has been conducted for 933 posts. This year, fewer candidates have qualified as compared to 2025.

A total of 14,161 candidates were qualified in UPSC Prelims Exam 2025.

Exam was held in 2 shifts on 24th May

UPSC Prelims Exam was conducted on 24 May 2026 across the country. The examination was conducted in offline mode through OMR sheets in two shifts. General Studies (GS) paper was held in the first shift, while CSAT was held in the second shift.

Recruitment will be done on 933 posts

This year 8.19 lakh candidates had registered for UPSC Prelims exam. After the interview, recruitment will be done on total 933 posts. This exam was conducted at 2,072 centers in 83 cities. . According to the data released by the Commission, 5.49 lakh candidates had appeared in the examination.

DAF form will have to be filled for Mains

Candidates who are successful in Prelims exam will have to fill DAF-I (Detailed Application Form) for Mains exam. This form will be active on the official website from June 19. Candidates will be able to fill this form till 28th June.

Answer key released four days after the exam

This time UPSC took a new step by releasing the provisional answer key on May 28, just four days after the exam. Earlier, usually the answer key was released after the entire examination process was over. It was also told in the released answer key that out of 100 questions, one question has been removed.

Mains exam on 21st August

Mains exam will be conducted by UPSC on 21st August. Mains consists of 9 question papers. Candidates who are successful in Mains Exam will be called for interview. Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in Mains and Interview.

Recruitment in 21 different Group A and B services

Recruitment to 21 different Group A and B services of the Central Government is done through UPSC Civil Services Examination. Apart from IAS, IPS and IFS, these include other services like Indian Revenue Service, Indian Accounts and Audit Service, Indian Corporate Law Service, Indian Trade Service. The final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of rank, category and preference.
