According to reports, AI short-term courses are not enough for jobs.
Artificial Intelligence AI skills are directly demanded in about 14% of the total job vacancies in the country and this pace is continuously increasing.
This is the reason why there is a flood of courses related to AI. But according to the joint reskilling and tech hiring report of NASSCOM and Indeed, about 70% of the courses running in the market are just ‘cheating’.
In fact, companies do not have time to wait for a 4-year degree, so they are immediately hiring those who come prepared for these specific roles through 3-6 month fasttrack courses.
However, the reports also warn to avoid fake bootcamps that only sell certificates. The market is paying attention only to those fast-track courses, at the end of which the student has a portfolio of 3 to 4 live, deployed public projects.

Question: AI is learning so fast, these courses will not become ‘useless’
Understand it in two parts-
First: Tool-Based Skills (Short-Term): A course teaching ‘ChatGPT’ will not be relevant even in 6 months. AI itself will make this work easier.
Second: Core Principles (long-term): Courses that teach core principles like data literacy, ethical AI, problem framing, and AI system direction will remain relevant for the long run (3-5 years+).
Dainik Bhaskar spoke to Suchita Dutta, Executive Director of Indian Staffing Federation (ISF) regarding the conditions hidden in the claims of ‘100% job guarantee’. Asked him some questions, to which he answered
- Are short-term courses enough for a job?no way. The market rewards those who have the fundamentals of a traditional degree as well as an understanding of practical AI and a portfolio of live projects.
- Are the claims of ‘100% job guarantee’ true?Such claims hide stringent conditions like minimum salary (often Rs 3-4 lakh per annum), compulsory attendance and relocation. Old syllabus is being taught in many courses.
- Are people with AI skills getting any special benefit in salary?Yes, there is huge demand for AI skills in the market. According to the data, the average salary premium for jobs that demand AI skills has jumped straight from 25% last year to 56% now.
- What is the salary trend in Generative AI, LLM Engineering and MLOps?The real premium in these modern sectors comes from skills and live projects. Generative AI, LLM Engineering and MLOps roles are emerging in the market at mid-level offering around Rs 18-35 lakh annual packages.
- Which jobs are being affected the most?According to estimates, AI is reducing entry-level roles by 20 to 25%. Entry level hiring has declined by 23% month-on-month and 44% year-on-year. In this, tasks like routine software testing, basic customer support and junior-coding are being affected the most. According to the IMF, 26% of India’s workforce is being impacted by generative AI, of which 12% are directly at risk of job loss. India’s tech hiring fell to a 28-month low in June 2026.
- How has the style of interview changed? There are no coding tests anymore. We look at the ability to understand the problem, take decisions and give the right prompts.
Start learning and understanding AI with AI for Everyone
Don’t rush to invest money and time straight into an expensive or heavy-handed coding course. First strengthen ‘AI literacy’ and ‘prompt engineering’. The first course you should start right now is-
course name : ‘AI for Everyone’ (Andrew Ng)
Where available: Coursera (It is free, it costs money only if you want a certificate. It is not very important to get a certificate in this)
Time: Only 6 to 10 hours.
Why is it important: This course from the world’s biggest guru of AI, Andrew Ng, will teach you how AI really works without any coding. What are neural networks? And how can you recognize AI opportunities in your daily work or business? This will prepare your foundation.
