NATIONAL
1. Senior Diplomat Rudra Gaurav will be the new Ambassador of Türkiye
- On June 11, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) appointed senior diplomat Rudra Gaurav Shrestha as the next Ambassador of India to Türkiye.
- Rudra is a 1999 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and was India’s Ambassador to Iran from 2023 till now.
- During his diplomatic career, Rudra has worked in France, Mauritius, Afghanistan, Singapore and Bhutan.
- Rudra has also been the High Commissioner of India to Mozambique from 2016 to 2019.
- In 2022, Rudra was Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
- Rudra worked as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) from 2020 to 2023.

Rudra has graduated from School of Economics from Delhi University.
2. Indian Army receives ‘Kamikaze’ drones
- On June 12, indigenous defense company SMPP handed over 106 ‘Kamikaze’ drones to the Indian Army.
- Kamikaze drones have also been named ‘Peacekeeper (Agniveg)’ and these drones can attack up to a range of 180km.
- These drones will run on turbojet engines and include 100 operational and 6 training drones.
- These kamikaze drones can fly at speeds up to 450kmph, which is more than 320kmph of the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest flying bird in the world.
- Kamikaze drones will not be affected by jamming, nor will anyone be able to divert them from the target through spoofing.
- This delivery has been done in collaboration with India’s indigenous defense manufacturing capability and unmanned warfare. These have been prepared with the help of Belarusian firm KB Indela.
- Kamikaze drones are drones that self-destruct when attacking a target. These are also called loitering munitions.
- Kamikaze drone takes its name from the ‘Kamikaze’ attack of the Second World War.
- At that time, Japanese pilots used to carry out kamikaze, i.e., suicide attacks by crashing their planes into enemy ships.
- The advantage of drones is that they are cheap and can carry out precise attacks and can target tanks, radars, cannons and military targets.
- This drone also has the capability to carry out precise attacks on important military infrastructure, logistics hubs, command centres, radar installations and other strategic targets.

During trials, Agniveg achieved a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of less than 5 meters while operating in a jamming and spoofing environment.

3. Shooter Jaspal Rana passes away
- India’s legendary shooter Jaspal Rana passed away on June 12. He was 49 years old.
- Jaspal was India’s high performance coach in 25m pistol since February 2025.
- Jaspal excelled in pistol shooting events, especially 25m center fire pistol, 25m standard pistol and 10m air pistol.
- Jaspal Rana was the coach of shooter Manu Bhaker, who won the double Olympic medal in the Paris Olympics.
- Jaspal Rana won 8 medals in Asian Games. These included 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
- Jaspal won 15 medals including 9 gold in the Commonwealth Games. These also include 4 silver and two bronze.
- Jaspal won the gold medal in the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima.
- Jaspal was honored with the Arjuna Award in 1994.
- Jaspal represented India in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
- In 1997, Jaspal was honored with Padma Shri by the government.
- Jaspal won several gold medals at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
- This also includes equaling the world record in the 25m center fire pistol event

Jaspal Rana was honored with the Dronacharya Award in 2020.
International 4. Google Senior Director Rene Mayhorfer resigns
- On June 12, Google’s senior director Rene Mayhorfer resigned from his post.
- Austrian-born Mayhorfer is a scientist and cyber security researcher.
- Along with his resignation in his personal blog, Rene has also accused Google of compromising ethical values on security matters related to AI.
- René is known for his work in sectors such as mobile security, digital identity encryption, privacy and network security.
- In 2025, René was elected as the European Commission and Encryption Technology Roadmap Expert.
- In the research papers of 2019 and 2023, he explained how Android keeps user’s apps and systems safe from cyber threats.

Rene was leading the security platform team at Google for a long time.
5. SpaceX issues world’s largest IPO worth $75 billion
- On June 12, the rocket company SpaceX of the world’s richest businessman Elon Musk was listed on the American stock market Nasdaq.
- The company has fixed the final price of its IPO at $135.
- After this listing being done at a valuation of 1.77 trillion dollars i.e. about Rs 168 lakh crore, Elon Musk can become the world’s first trillionaire.
- SpaceX is raising a record 75 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 7.15 lakh crore through this issue.
- This single IPO of SpaceX is more than the total amount raised of all the American IPOs in the years 2024 and 2025. This is the world’s largest IPO.
- SpaceX’s valuation has reached an all-time high.
- Musk’s total wealth has crossed the $1 trillion mark.
- SpaceX’s success has opened up new possibilities in space tourism and satellite communications.
MISCELLENEOUS
6. Historic tripartite agreement signed between Assam and Nagaland
- On June 11, a historic tripartite agreement (MoU) was signed between the Central Government of Assam and the Government of Nagaland.
- This agreement has been signed for joint research and production of crude oil and natural gas in the disputed areas of Assam-Nagaland border.
- This agreement has been signed by the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of Assam and Government of Nagaland.
- This agreement took place in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam CM Hemant Bishwasharma and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
- The objective of this MoU is to exploit the oil and gas resources in the Dispute Area Belt (DAB) of the Assam-Nagaland border.
- This MoU will strengthen India’s energy security and help in reducing dependence on imported energy.
- Currently, oil production is 1,000–1,500 barrels per day, which can increase manifold after the MoU.
- Assam is the oldest oil producing state of India with major oil fields like Digboi, Naharkatiya, Moran-Hoogrijan and Sibsagar.
- India’s first and Asia’s oldest Digboi oil refinery is located in Tinsukia district of Assam.
- Exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas will be carried out in an area of more than 1,000 square km bordering the two states.
