NATIONAL
1. Air Force successfully tested C-295
- On June 10, the Indian Air Force conducted the first successful testing of the C-295 military transport aircraft.
- The C-295 is a medium tactical military transport aircraft. It met all the standards in testing.
- This is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft, which will replace the old Avro-748.
- The C-295 is designed for troop transport, cargo transport, medical evacuation and special operations.
- The C-295 can carry up to 70 soldiers, 48 paratroopers or 24 medical stretchers at a time.
- C-295 will be used for transportation of soldiers and heavy goods, medical goods and during special operations.
- In September 2021, the Indian government signed a deal with Spain’s Airbus Defense and Space for 56 aircraft worth ₹21,935 crore.
- India has received 16 aircraft in its first batch. The remaining 40 aircraft will be assembled by Tata Advanced Systems Limited at a production facility in Vadodara.

The C-295 is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft.

2. FIFA Men’s World Cup begins
- The 23rd FIFA Men’s World Cup began on 11 June. Its opening match was played in Mexico City.
- The first match was played between Mexico and South Africa team.
- The FIFA World Cup will be played in America, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 20.
- For the first time in FIFA’s history, i.e. 96 years, three countries are hosting the World Cup.
- A total of 104 matches will be played between 48 teams in 16 cities.
- The champion team that wins the FIFA World Cup will get Rs 429 crore.
- The 2022 FIFA World Cup was won by Argentina.
- 1,248 footballers from the world including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are participating in the World Cup.
- This year, 4 new countries Cabo Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan are participating for the first time in the World Cup.
- FIFA started in 1930 in Uruguay. Host Uruguay won the first World Cup.
- This year, for the first time, FIFA World Cup is being telecasted in India also.

3. Women’s T-20 World Cup starts
- The 10th Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on June 12 in England and Wales.
- The first match will be played between hosts England and Sri Lanka and its final will be held at Lord’s on July 5.
- This time 12 teams are participating in the Women’s T-20 World Cup and 33 matches will be played in 24 days.
- India’s first match will be with Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham.
- New Zealand won the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
- Australia team has been Women’s T20 champion maximum 6 times till now.

4. Time Magazine released Top 100 Sports Persons list
- On June 10, ‘Time’ magazine released the list of the 100 most influential sports personalities for the first time.
- Indian female cricketer Smriti Mandhana is included in this list.
- Four-time NBA (basketball) champion LeBron James has got a place on the cover page of the magazine.
- Along with this, footballers like Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland are included in the list.
- Basketball player LeBron James, baseball player Shohei Ohtani and women’s basketball player Caitlin Clark, along with Carlos Alcaraz are also included in it.

5. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar meets Bulgaria PM
- On June 10, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Bulgaria’s PM Rumen Radev in Sofia.
- In this meeting, the heads of both the countries talked about bilateral relations.
- In this meeting, both the countries discussed increasing cooperation in trade and investment, pharma, semiconductor, AI, space, defense, mobility, tourism and creative entertainment industry.
- India-Bulgaria relations were discussed in the meeting amid the changing global economic and geopolitical circumstances.
- Jaishankar also visited the National Historical Museum during the visit.
- On Thursday, S Jaishankar also participated in the 14th edition of ‘Kultaranta Talks’ in Finland.
- Kultaranta Talks is a leading policy forum in Finland.

6. India will provide $2.5 million aid to Palestinian refugees
- On June 11, India announced an assistance of $ 2.5 million to the United National Agency for Palestine Refugees.
- India will provide this help to the ‘United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East’ (UNRWA).
- UNRWA is the lead agency of the United Nations, providing education, health, relief and social services to millions of Palestinian refugees living in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
- This funding will meet the needs of Palestinian refugees such as education, healthcare, relief and social welfare.
- India has described this help as part of the two-state solution, that is, India supports both the security concerns of Israel and the freedom of the people of Palestine.
- In February 2026, India met with United Nations (UN) member countries to discuss Palestine and expressed concern over the establishment of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
- Since increasing its annual contribution to UNRWA in 2018, India has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in assistance.
- UNRWA has also supported development projects, humanitarian assistance and medical supplies for Palestinians.
