Exam should be conducted 2-3 times a year
India’s biggest medical entrance exam NEET-UG is currently held once a year in a single session. Members of the parliamentary committee also suggested conducting NEET-UG 2-3 times a year so that students get multiple chances to pass the examination. They should not be troubled by reasons that are beyond their control.
The demand for conducting NEET several times a year has also been raised repeatedly. In July 2018, the then Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar had announced that NTA would conduct JEE Main and NEET-UG twice a year. However, it was never implemented.
However, in 2023, the National Medical Commission had said that conducting NEET-UG twice a year would not be practical, as all MBBS seats are filled through the same counseling process.
