NSUI demonstrated outside the board office in Delhi on June 1 over the mistakes in CBSE’s OSM process.

CBSE has started taking action in the controversy of changing answer sheets and low marks of students. The Education Ministry has sought a report from the Board regarding awarding the tender to COEMPT.

Media reports have claimed that the Education Ministry has made up its mind to recommend strict action against the guilty officials.

However, CBSE officials have denied allegations of irregularities and said the tender was awarded as per normal financial rules and government procurement procedures.

CBSE had given this contract to Quompt Edutech on 5 December. That means exactly 74 days before the start of the first board exam on 17th February.

Rahul Gandhi is also continuously attacking the Board and the Education Minister. Just a day earlier, he had alleged that a particular vendor was benefited through the tender process for OSM.

Portal reopened from today, not open all day yesterday

The board’s revaluation site could not open till late Monday evening. Lakhs of students were troubled by this. The board said throughout the day that ‘the portal will go live soon’. According to sources associated with the board, ‘unauthorized interference’ is continuing on the portal i.e. hacking attempts are being made.

However, on Tuesday the board announced that its much-awaited verification and revaluation portal for class 12 students is now live.

What has happened till now….

  • 13 May- CBSE declared the results of 12th board exam.
  • 19 May- Opened portal for resolution of post result complaints, but crashed on the very first day.
  • 22 May- The date for taking photocopies of answer sheets was extended thrice by one day each.
  • 25th May- Help was sought from two IITs of the country to repair the portal.
  • June 1- OSM’s portal related to Revel could not open throughout the day.
  • 2 June- The board announced to make the portal live, it will remain open till June 6.

Whistle blower of irregularities in CBSE-OSM

  • Who is Vedanta: Vedant Srivastava of Delhi had also given the 12th examination. When he got 65 marks in Physics, he raised his voice. When the copy was received during revaluation, the discrepancy was discovered. First he was trolled on social media. Trollers even called him a traitor, later the board admitted its mistake and apologized.
  • Who are Sarthak: Sarthak Siddhant is a 17 year old tech researcher from Ranchi. He also took the exam. He moved beyond being an ordinary student and worked as an investigative journalist/data scientist. By carefully studying and comparing the previous 576 documents issued by CBSE, irregularities in the tender were revealed.

COEMPT accused of irregularities in Telangana board exam

COEMPT Edutech is a company based in Hyderabad, Telangana. This firm does digital evaluation work in states like Telangana, Karnataka and West Bengal. In 2019, its name was Globarena Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Then it was accused of irregularities in data processing in the 12th board exam in Telangana. That year, more than 3 lakh out of 9.74 lakh children in the state had failed.
