Due to a technical glitch on May 30, the first shift examination of Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate i.e. CUET-UG started late by two hours. The exam was to start at 9 am, but it could start later in the day at 11 am.
Due to server and system problems at many examination centers in the country, the paper could not start on time. At many places, students had to wait for hours, while at some centers students claim that the exam has been canceled after waiting for 4 hours.
NTA said- ‘Technical error on the part of TCS’
CUET is a computer based exam, which is conducted by the National Testing Agency i.e. NTA. According to NTA, the exam started late due to technical glitch on the part of TCS i.e. Tata Consultancy Services.
NTA says that the technical glitch has been rectified. Candidates appearing for the exam will be given full time, so that no one is at a loss.
Timing of second shift changed
Apart from this, NTA has also announced changes in the timings of the second shift of the day. This shift was earlier to start at 3 pm. The reporting time for this was 1 pm.
But now this exam will start from 4 pm. And the reporting time for this will be 2:30 pm.

Parents angry due to continuous problems of students
Meanwhile, parents waiting outside the exam centers expressed their displeasure on social media.
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi criticized the Union Education Minister while posting on X. Said that CUET exam was delayed due to technical glitch.
15,68,866 candidates registered for CUET-UG
This CUET-UG 2026 exam has started from 11th May and will continue till 31st May. According to NTA, a total of 15,68,866 candidates have registered for the exam. This exam is being conducted in 35 shifts in a time period of 21 days.
CUET UG : Eligibility :
Candidates applying for CUET UG 2026 must have passed class 12th examination from a recognized state or central board. Apart from this, candidates who have passed intermediate or 2 years pre-university exam from a recognized university or board can also apply. Higher Secondary Certificate (Vocational) examination passed candidates are also eligible and can apply for CUET UG.
