NATIONAL
1. Resignation of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
- On May 28, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah resigned from his post. He gave this information in a press conference in Bengaluru.
- Siddaramaiah had also called a breakfast meeting with ministers at his home in Bengaluru a day earlier. In this meeting he informed all the ministers about his decision.

2. President Murmu awarded ‘President’s Colours’ to Sikkim Police
- On 28 May, President Draupadi Murmu awarded ‘President’s Colours’ to Sikkim Police.
- This felicitation ceremony was organized at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok.
- Sikkim is the third state in the North-Eastern region and 15th in the country to receive the ‘President’s Colours’ award.
- The President’s Colors award is the highest honor given to any military or police unit.
- An official flag and a special symbol (insignia) are given as a symbol of this honor.
- This insignia is worn by police officers on the left sleeve of their uniform and is awarded for distinguished service and dedication.
- Apart from the regiments of the Army, Navy and Air Force, President Colors are also awarded to paramilitary forces and state police for their indomitable courage and discipline.
- The Indian Navy was the first Indian armed forces branch to be awarded the President’s Colors by the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

3. Urdu poet Dr. Bashir Badr passes away
- On May 28, the famous Urdu Ghazal poet Dr. Bashir Badr passed away. He was 91 years old.
- After completing his studies from Aligarh Muslim University, Bashir Badr became the chairman of the Urdu department at the famous Meerut College in Uttar Pradesh.
- Bashir Badr was awarded the Padma Shri in 1999 for popularizing modern ghazal in colloquial language.
- In 1999, Bashir Badr received the Sahitya Akademi for his ghazal collection ‘Aas’. Was done.
- Many of his poems and ghazals have been included by singer Jagjit Singh in his albums.

4. PM Modi will visit France and Slovakia next month
- According to the information received on May 28, PM Modi will visit France and Slovakia next month i.e. in June.
- During this time Modi will participate in the G7 summit to be held in France. He will hold important meetings with the leaders of both France and Slovakia.
- The 52nd G7 summit will be held in the city of Evian-le-Bains in France from 15 to 17 June.
- India has been continuously participating in G7 meetings since 2019.
- PM Modi will visit France on the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
- During this visit, PM Modi will talk about issues like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Minerals Supply Business, Climate Change and Energy Security in the G7 Summit.
- PM Modi will also visit Slovakia after his France tour. This will be the first official visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia.
- Diplomatic relations between India and Slovakia were established in 1993.
- In February 2026, Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini visited India and participated in the India AI Impact Summit.
- Recently trade between India and Slovakia has reached more than 1.3 billion euros.

5. R. Praggnanandha beats Magnus Carlsen in Norway Chess 2026
- On May 28, R Praggnanand defeated world number-1 chess player Magnus Carlsen in Norway Chess 2026. Praggnanand won in the third round of Norway Chess 2026.

- Praggnanandha is one of the youngest successful Grandmasters of India. Earlier, Praggnanand had also won Norway Chess 2024.

6. Para javelin thrower Sumit Antil broke his own world record
- On May 27, para javelin thrower Sumit Antil broke his own world record and created a new world record by throwing the javelin of 74.82 meters in Bengaluru.
- Sumit has made this record in the Javelin Throw F64 event in the 8th Indian Open Para Athletics Championship.
- Sumit has broken his own old world record. Earlier, he had made a throw of 73.29 meters in the 2023 Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China.
- Sumit has broken the world record seven times so far. He created the first world record by throwing the javelin of 60.45 meters in the World Para Athletics held in Italy in June 2019 and also won the silver medal.
- Sumit had made a throw of 62.88 meters in the World Para Athletics Championship held in Dubai in November 2019.
- Sumit again created a new world record with a throw of 66.90 meters in the National Para Athletics Championship held in Bengaluru in March 2021.
