1. PM Modi will visit 4 countries

On May 15, PM Narendra Modi will visit four European countries. He will visit Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy from May 15 to 20.

  • In the first phase of his visit, Modi will reach UAE and meet President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
  • In the UAE the two leaders will hold talks on bilateral issues, particularly energy cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

2. Himanta Biswa Sarma becomes CM of Assam for the second time

On 12 May, Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam for the second consecutive time. Governor Laxman Acharya administered him the oath of office and secrecy at the swearing-in ceremony at Khanapara Veterinary College Ground in Guwahati.

  • Prashant was India’s Ambassador to Cairo from 1997 to 2000 and served in Tripoli until 2004.
  • Prashant also served as Deputy Secretary for Eurasia and the United Nations Economic and Social Division in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2004 to 2006.
  • Pacific worked with Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Central Asia, and United Nations affairs related to economic and social issues.
  • Prashant currently holds the post of Additional Secretary (Immigration Policy and Welfare) in the Ministry of External Affairs.
