JPSC Controversy Jharkhand Exam Scandal Chairman L Khiangte Resigns

Amidst the ongoing controversy in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Commission Chairman L. Khiangte’s resignation has been accepted by the Governor. At the same time, the Commission has postponed a total of 9 special recruitment examinations including the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Mains Examination till further orders.

Question on the result of 14th Combined Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination

After the results of the 14th Combined Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination released on July 2, 2026, many candidates alleged irregularities. Candidates say that the cut-off marks were not made public, there was no transparency in the OMR sheets and evaluation process.

Apart from this, marks were also not disclosed to the candidates. Some candidates who claimed to have more marks were not selected, while candidates with less marks were selected.

Accusations against the agency conducting the examination

JPSC is also accused of conducting several examinations through an agency which was blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh. A member of the commission also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister expressing concern over the fairness of the examination process.

CID investigation started

After the controversy escalated, the Jharkhand government handed over the investigation of the entire matter to CID. CID raided several places including JPSC office. During the investigation, CID arrested many people related to the examination including the Deputy Controller of Examination. It is alleged that there were serious irregularities in examination conduct and data processing.

Were backdated changes made in the server or OMR sheet after the examination?

Money Laundering Angle:

To which accounts was the huge amount collected from the candidates sent?

Role of officers:

On what basis did JPSC give permission to the blacklisted company to conduct the examination?

JPSC has currently postponed a total of 9 recruitment examinations including Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Mains Examination-2025. The Commission has said that the new date of examinations will be announced soon. Candidates have been appealed to rely only on the information released on the official website of the Commission.
